Don't look now but the Reds are two outs away from being only 3 games from 3rd place, and only 8 from 2nd place.

Might as well call up Devin Mesoraco. Gotta get it while the getting is good.

I think we can put to bed the question about Drew Stubbs' power. Suffice to say the guy has pop. Seems to me the only thing holding him back from nailing down the CF job on a fulltime basis is hitting a curveball. A good start would be learning to lay off the curveballs he can't hit with a tennis racket. And this hole in his game is not unusual for young players.

As it is right now he's a .250 hitter with pop, speed and outstanding CF defense and that ain't bad...

Perhaps Stubbs is the young Steve Finley Marty talked about a couple years ago, but we all misheard him?

Re: Reds vs Astros - 9/16/09

That was a fine series for the Reds. All the games were close, they came from behind in each one, and there were some signs of offense. Overcoming 5 homers ought to keep the boys at Elias Sports Bureau busy until game time tonight. I imagine 5 solo homers is a rarity in itself.

BTW, Francisco did walk in the minors, at least once every 100 AB, so I guess we have to wait until next year to see another.
