Moderate exercise is the best appetite suppressant I have found. If I run a 3 miler before dinner I'll eat at least a 1/3 to 1/2 less than usual.

Too low, not much affect, strenuous and I eat more.

    Re: Effective appetite suppressant?

I recently went on a weight-loss program that bored me to tears, but it did have a couple of interesting pieces of advice that seem to work.

    1) When you eat, eat for 10 minutes, then stop for 5 minutes, then continue eating for 10 minutes. This helps your brain catch up with your stomach, so you will feel "full" before you have stuffed yourself.

    2) Take small-ish bites, and chew slowly. Hold each bite in your mouth for a moment and think about how it tastes. Eat one item at a time. Basically, train your mind to keep your body from quickly stuffing handfuls of food into your mouth.

    3) Learn to recognize the difference between eating because it's mealtime and eating because you are truly hungry. When you start thinking about food, wondering where you want to go for lunch, etc., you're not truly hungry. When anything sounds good for lunch, even leftovers, then you're truly hungry. *Eat only when you are truly hungry."

Yeah no kidding. I read that, started to sweat, then had to go lay down from fatigue.
