I'm going to blame the Cubs for the lack of HD, just feels right.

They mentioned they were having trouble with the HD tonight and they hoped they could get it corrected. Of course, they didn't.

I heard that, but it was funny that it was never scheduled to be in HD.

Actually they did, at least on cable it was in HD. It took some time but I saw at least half the game in HD. Don't know how long it was fixed prior to me switching over I wasn't checking it periodically.

Does anyone know...are the Reds games on Extra Innings in HD? Usually they mark the channels that are (and it's usually limited) and they haven't been marking the Reds' channels.

Yeah, on Time Warner the HD was up about half way through.

I watched in HD from the 5th inning on on Time Warner. I was upset they had it wrong at first, but at least they resolved it. I don't think FSN has figured it out yet as they also had video problems on Opening Day.

On Time Warner the HD games on Extra Innings package are pre selected and usually only one or two a night so it would be rare that the Reds are on HD

I have DirecTv extra innings. Last nights game was not in HD. It was supposed to be, but the channel where the Gamemix channel showed it, 744.1, just had a DirecTv logo. It was on in standard def on 744 and on WGN.

that's so lame. i wonder why that is? i do have TW myself. does TW/extra innings just not support this? it just doesn't make mcuh sense to me to not air games in HD if the teams are airing it that way.

The hockey package is that way as well. I'd imagine the same goes for the NBA and MLS. It is an issue of bandwith, though they could easily solve the problem if they jettisoned the all-audio channels and some of the more useless In Demand offerings.

I'm just not sure how this could be. They have up to 999 channels if they wanted to use them. And we all know that we don't get 999 channels. Surely they could make room for this if they wanted.

An HD signal takes a lot more bandwidth than a traditional SD signal. When combined with internet service and digital phone a real problem starts to emerge for cable companies.
