Drew Sutton's glove at SS is not helping his case.

Plus it clearly doesn't matter what the name is, if they are SS, they still bat second. Oh well.

    Re: 3/30/10 Reds vs. Pads

Harang gave up two hits and two runs in the first.

After 1 full it is the Padres 2 Reds 0

    Code:
Cincinnati IP H R ER BB SO HR
    Harang 1.0 2 2 1 0 2 0
    E: Sutton (2, fielding).

    2B: Blanks (7, Harang).
    TB: Eckstein; Blanks 2.
    RBI: Blanks 2 (13).

No hits for the Reds, Votto walked in the first. There was a strikeout of Sutton and throw them out of Dickerson at second in the first.

Harang walked the pitcher. Sutton committed another error. The Reds escaped that half of an inning. Still 2-0 San Diego.

    Due up
    Bruce
    Gomes
    Miles

In all fairness to Sutton, what good does it to play him at SS when he is trying to make the team? He's not a SS, and with Janish on the roster, will never see playing time except in an emergency.
Why not let him play the position he will play so the team can properly evaluate him?

Seems like you are being reasonable and right, to me. Miles $$$ is playing second today.

I agree. I look at Sutton as my choice to be back-up at third, second, and even first. He certainly has a better bat than Hernandez and has the ability to even be the sixth outfielder. I like Sutton's versitility but I do not see a reason for him to be playing short.

He certainly is not doing himself any favors with the two errors today.

If Sutton showed himself to be an adequate SS Janish would not be a shoo in to make the roster. Sutton's play is good news for Janish' job security

    San Diego 4th
    Latos fly’s out to center

Cabrera reaches on a legged out grounder to Sutton

Eckstein reaches on slow roller, Harang throws the ball down the right field line.
    Fundamentally sound comes to mind.

Runners at first and third with one out.

    Venable pops out

    Blanks strikes out

Heading to the bottom of the 4th SD 5 - Reds 1
    Code:
IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA
    Harang 4.0 5 5 4 2 6 1 10.38

Perhaps Burke is passing both Sutton and Miles.
