    2010 Champions League

United is simply manhandling Munich right now. Bayern simply can't hold any type of possession.

3-0 for United and now they lead 4-2 on aggregate. Nani has two sublime goals. Get Rooney out of the game now.

Uh-oh....Olic scores for Munich. 3-1 and 4-3 on aggregate. If Munich gets one more, they advance.

Munich is coming...Ribery just had an amazing volley that Van Der Saar saved.

Robben with a HUGE goal. Munich now leads with the tiebreak. Robben hits a dream of a volley.

Sounds like Sir Alex is a bit of a poor loser. I didn't get to see the game, but whining about the Germans and claiming they wouldn't have prevailed if Man U had 11 men is lame. I noticed he didn't complain about the fact that it was a yellow, just that the Germans lobbied for it.

He called them "typical Germans." It is hard to believe that what is essentially an ethnic slur is being tolerated. My mother is German so I was a bit touched off by the comment, especially since I have followed FC Bayern (her home team as a child) my entire life. Oh well, I guess Bayern has the only thing that counts.

Every big time coach is a whiner. It is one of the more annoying parts of the game. Wenger whines, Benitez whines, they all whine. Fergie just happens to be the worst and the British media give him a pass because he is a legend. He kind of plays by the Barkley rules.

A couple of years ago I got to listen to two men in a Bristol pub extolling the virtues of Sir Alex Ferguson. Both men were wearing Liverpool shirts which made it kind of odd. I've encountered similar outpourings from fans of various rival clubs. He really is placed on a pedestal.

How does the tiebreak work for aggregate?
All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.

The team that scores more "away" goals advances.

Bayern scored 2 in England to Manchesters 1 in Germany.

If they have an even aggregate and are even on away goals, it goes to overtime, and then penalties.

He can't be worse than Mourinho, currently at Inter. He's the absolute worst sport and poorly behaved coach in any sport that I've ever seen. However he's also a winner, so his behavior is tolerated.
