Hallady is now 9-7 on the year. It's hard to believe a pitcher that good has lost that many games already, especially playing for a team with Philly's offense (or at least what their offense was expected to be.)

I dont know if may of you read my little ditty about St. Louis and thier Offense/Defense but if you pitch around Albert and Matt and hit the ball on the ground you can beat that team 2 out of 3 games.

And Miguel Cairo didn't get any votes for best-looking player? C'mon Heather, where are you at to settle these things? Oh, you would just vote for Joey anyway. Never mind.
Well, at least you figured out real quick why I never jumped into the 'best-looking player' argument up thread. You all should know who I would vote for in a heartbeat. :

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

Gotta give credit to Ondrusek. He has really figured it since he came back up from AAA.( Must like the meal money up here.)

had to sign in. Biggest win since 1999.

I knew there was a reason I wasn't turning off the radio in the office today until the Phillies collected 27 outs.

As the game moved on, I kept on pleading to the baseball gods that we would not get beat by a Dane Sardhina home run. Thank goodness they saw it my way.

Once again, I am amazed. I cannot watch the afternoon games. The office doesn't have the MLB network and the only way I can listen to games is on my BlackBerry. And today, I wasn't even able to do that I was so busy. Regardless, I just watched the taped replay and I have a couple of observations that most will laugh at, but they are mine regardless:

    1. Harang's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. He still had a quality start, made one mistake pitch and was solid after that.
    2. The difference in this team over the last few teams is Scott Rolen. Maybe it's leadership and maybe it's solid play, but he's the team leader. Kudos to O Cabrerra, too. He may be short on range, but makes up for it in effort and clutch hitting. Where would this team be if Paul Janish had been playing short all year? I shudder at the thought.
    3. I can't see where the pitching is much better than in years past. On paper it might be, but subjectively the difference has been the offense which has been thrilling and competent most nights. And the fielding.

As much as I'm thrilled by the season so far, I've come to realize that Nix is pretty much a waste of time and Heisey is a much better option. Cairo is a very poor choice as the "first man off the bench."

But it all works or has worked. And I'm a really happy camper when the Reds can go out on a Wednesday afternoon and beat Roy Halladay. Now, that's what I'm talking about!

With all due respect I have to disagree with you concerning this years pitching staff as compared to others of this decade.

The Reds had to win games 9-8 or 12-10 in the past, I can't place all the blame for that on the offense or defense.

I wanted to post something like this in last night's game thread when he got the single off Lidge that preceeded the Votto homer. OC looks awful at everything. His numbers are bad, he sometimes looks like the no armed man in the field, but there's just something about him. I'm not going to sit here and say he's great (or even good anymore), but if there's a big spot in the game he knows how to kick it up a knotch.

Everything the Reds do is better. They pitch better, they hit better, and they play better defense.

Not only did today's win propel the Reds into first place, it also made GAC five dollars richer.

I'm on vacation right now, but I'm looking forward to returning to work just for that! This guy is a real big-mouthed braggart, who is also a Steeler fan, so I'm looking forward to collecting.

I was sitting in a sports bar here in Niagara (never seen so many TVs in my life), and saw that the Reds won, so I was watching the Cards-D'Backs game with much enthusiasm as I enjoyed as couple Yuenglings and beat my son at pool.
