I thought they were wasting a roster spot on Cairo comming out of ST.

    I was wrong.

Hopefully we remember this when spring training breaks next season. These guys know what they are doing.

Huzzah! A new day is upon us in Redstown!
Cordero has been a new man since the ASB. Somebody got in his ear and got him to throw inside. It's made an amazing difference IMO. I know he allowed a walk last night, but even that was borderline. Him going inside like that TOTALLY keeps the hitters off balance and it makes his slider nearly unhittable. Kudos Francisco!

Anyone know what the attendance was last night? I ask 'cause I'm going tonight, and figure that it will be similar tonight to what it was last night due to similar circumstances- both weeknight games, crappy pitchers for the Nats, good pitchers for the Reds, no give-a-ways.

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou

This really could be the perfect situation for Leake. After a long layoff (hadn't pitched since July 9), he only throws 69 pitches tonight, yet still gets the win (after getting screwed out of at least three wins this year including his previous start). All of a sudden, maybe the Reds can stretch Leake out longer into the season than many think. Skip a start occasionally, give him an extra day off between starts here and there, etc.

The Cardinals are never going to lose again.
