On a related note...for all the hoopla about Alcides Escobar, I haven't been impressed by him at all, so far. He's only got 8 stolen bases on the year when he had 34 and 42 in back-to-back minor league seasons.

I guess the old adage about stealing 1st base holds true.

I think the struggled lately thing has been overblown. He has had two bad starts, but before that had 3 solid starts. One so-so start even before that which was preceeded by some dominant starts.

I really think the "Lincecum is struggling" thing is being overblown. He had a 3.02 ERA for the month of July and has made just 3 starts this month.

He's done this several times in his career. He'll have a few bad starts and come back and dominate. I'd rather face Cain than Lincecum on the off-chance that dominant Tim shows up.

His K-rate is down, his walks are up, his HR-rate is doubled.

That ERA in June should likley have been higher based on his rates.

He's not the same guy. He doesn't throw nearly as hard as he used to.

Though he is still good, there is every reason to be concerned.

Guys hitting 7th and 8th don't get a lot to hit, and they don't get a chance to run much when they do get on base. Look at Drew Stubbs, who has only stolen a handful of bases since being moved to the 7th spot. On top of all that, the Brewers don't seem to like to run a lot with anybody, preferring to wait for Fielder, Braund and Hart to walk around the bases.
