    8/27- Reds vs. Cubs

    Bruce 9
    Valaika 4
    Votto 3
    Rolen 5
    Gomes 7
    Hernandez 2
    Stubbs 8
    Janish 6
    Cueto 1

BP not in line up. 1st start for Chrissy. I really don't like Bruce leading off. Gomes in lineup also after good day Wednesday, but bad 3 months.

    I'll probably do some PBP.

I'm not sure why anyone expects Gomes to not be in the lineup vs. a lefty. He will be for the rest of the entire season, if I were to guess.

Bruce leading off against a lefty? It make make the first two spots black holes. I hope not, but that's the fear. Cueto had better be on. I'd like to build on that lead.

Really glad to see Valaika get a start.

Dusty thinking outside the box with that line-up.

"A" for effort from Dusty. I like it.

I kinda do too. Maybe trying to get Bruce to shorten his swing against a lefty by batting him leadoff? Who knows, but I'm intrigued.

Don't mind that lineup. It's probably the best you can do with those eight.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

Shocked Cairo isn't starting at 2nd.

Yeah, Cairo deserves the starts when Phillips is out. He's played well and he could even bat at the top of the order with his .357 OBP...but alas, why do something that makes sense? I would rather Janish bat up near the top if Valaika is playing, it's not like Valaika gets on base...

I don't get Bruce batting first or 6th...he should bat 5th behind Rolen everyday all day. We need to win these games, we don't need to give Valaika any time out there and definitely not at the top of the order.

There have been a few games this year I've clicked on the game thread and thought someone was playing a joke cause no way Dusty actually came up with that. Today is one of those days.

Gorzelany is much worse against lefties than righties.

    Bruce has a 1.159 OPS.

Also Valika is quite a bit better vs. LF pitching than RH, and OPS over .900.

So he bats 1st? Is that in case Cueto gets on? I'm sorry, I don't get it.

Soriano bats 7th for $17M...wow! I think the cubs are in trouble for a number of years barring outright releases of a few players.
