I'm beginning to fall in love with Dusty.

    I said it.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

Yeah, another A++ line-up from Dusty.

There's two non-home grown players in that lineup.

Hopefully Heisey has a good night and keeps Gomes on the bench.

interesting that heisey gets the nod, Bruce moves up to 5th, Stubbs back in the leadoff spot. Nothing to complain about, just not what I was expecting.

Getting a little worried about Brandon, I'd like to see him get some swings in against live pitching before the Cards series. At this point I'm assuming they're going to hold him out tomorrow as well since Dusty has a history of holding guys back an extra day or two when coming off of an injury.

I hope I'm wrong but this matchup doesn't bode well for Heisey.

I'm really curious as to why he has had zero early success vs SP this season.

Harang was pitching mainly to Hanigan earlier in the season so I imagine Dusty is using Ryan here to help Aaron out in his first start back after a long layoff. That seems like a good idea to me and hopefully it helps him pitch well tonight. I just saw Ramon in the game on Sunday afternoon and he looked perfectly fine. I imagine we'll see Ramon matched up with Cueto tomorrow night.

Supposedly Phillips taking ground balls and doing other baseball activities in warm-ups. I think it's the Dusty thing of waiting an extra day or two. One of Dusty's traits I really like.

I was wondering that myself. Not because of who's starting, but because of him grabbing his hamstrings after reaching 3rd the other night. He was promptly replaced by Phillips as a pinch runner.

    Saw this on Fay's blog.

Arthur Rhodes is not available tonight. That greatly increases the chances of Chapman pitching.

    Well... Not so fast...

Bruce is out of the line up....

Gomes to LF, Heisey to RF.

No reason yet on why Bruce was scratched.

Per Reds Twitter, Bruce has been scratched and Gomes is in. No explanation.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Here is your reason why Bruce is out....

Bruce scratched for precautionary reasons with pain in right side.
