    Pujols .309 ba, 35 hrs, 96 rbi
    Holliday .303 ba, 25 hrs, 87 rbi

Sure, there's a BIT of a drop off...but certainly not a significant one. Especially when you take into consideration recent trends. But most importantly...there were TWO OUTS. You're not setting up a double play...and you're certainly not walking Pujols to get to Skip Schumaker. That's Matt Holliday there...he's not chopped liver. It was a bad move IMO. It didn't gain us even a slight advantage...therefore it's a bad idea to put someone on base if it doesn't gain us an advantage. Pujols or not.

    JMHO
And that is the jest of this discussion. I walk Pujols because he is Pujols, you think the percentages are in your favor. Of course, your position is nothing but conjecture because he was walked, so what Pujols would have done is not calculable. You know what Holliday did, so its easy to keep beating the drum.

Me, I'm just glad that is the last time we have to see that team this season. They can hang their hat on the season series victory as they figure out how to plug all their holes this offseason. I bet we agree on that

Albert Pujols > Matt Holliday. I let Holliday beat me every time before letting Pujols do the same.

I actually find it stunning that this is even a discussion. Not as stunning as other ridiculous things mentioned in this thread, but stunning enough.

Well you got your wish. Matt Holliday did beat you and guess what? Instead of 3-2 it was 4-2.

Holliday could have still hit a home run to make it 4-2. The guys on base did not have any impact on that. And they still lose. So Pujols beat us or Holliday beat us. What makes the difference again?

You already said you don't see a place for probability in baseball. So clearly the debate is at a point you're either unable or unwilling to process and understand.

I truly don't think it's a hard concept, and I don't doubt your intelligence, so it seems clear it's unwillingness is the issue. Therefore I won't bother explaining it again.
