It's because I am not there tonight. That must be it.

Not a very good outing for Cochran but four hits won't beat the Bulls either way. Need to get Sappelt going at the top for things to happen. Bounce back in Durham tomorrow night.

Tonight is the last game of the season for Billings. Billy Hamilton and Yorman Rodriguez are both 1-for-1 with doubles.

El'Hajj Muhammad is getting his first start. Interesting. He's pitched three scoreless, and it's 2-0.

Local wrap on the Bulls/Bats game last night....looks like Klinker tonight against Alex Cobb.

Bulls even series with Louisville after 6-2 win

    Share Yesterday at 9:07 p.m.

commentsPOST Darin Downs and the rest of the Durham bullpen allowed just one run over the final 6.1 innings, as the Bulls evened a best-of-five series at a game apiece with a 6-2 victory.

Downs came on in the third with the bases loaded and two out, and Durham leading 3-1. He got Mike Costanzo, who had homered the previous day, to fly out to the wall.

Downs did allow a run in the fourth on a Dave Sappelt groundout, but Durham answered in the fifth. Justin Ruggiano doubled to left center, his third hit, and moved to third on a lined single to right by Chris Richard. Enerio Del Rosario relieved Tom Cochran and allowed an RBI single to Joe Dillon to make it 4-2. After Del Rosario got a double-play ball, he uncorked a wild pitch, scoring Richard to make it 5-2.

From there the combination of Jake McGee, Joe Bateman and Winston Abreu allowed just one walk over the final four innings, striking out seven. Durham tacked on a run in the eighth on doubles by Anderson and Angel Chavez.

The Bulls managed 11 hits, three by Ruggiano, and two each by Dillon and Anderson. Durham scored four of its six runs with two out.

The remaining games in the first round playoff series are in Durham beginning on Friday night at 7:05. RHP Alex Cobb makes his Bulls debut against RHP Matt Klinker. Coverage begins on 620 the Buzz at 6:50 p.m.
