Be nice if they would call up an outfielder. Sad the stubbs is the best we have right now.

So our backup OF is a 40-yo that just came off the DL for an oblique strain?

You really think they'd let George Grande back into the booth tonight and NOT have Edmonds active? Come on.

I'm starting to wonder if we'll see Bruce again. This is looking oddly Mets-like. Over the past few season the Mets have had injuries that they started off "day-to-day" and you never saw the guy again. Church, Reyes, Beltran, Bay.

I hope not, but this seems odd. All signs pointed to Bruce being back in the lineup tonight.

I don't think any signs pointed to that. The fact that he just started with batting practice a day ago should have been a hint it would be probably a few more days (at least) before he was back in the lineup.

RE: Edmonds, to the person that mentioned being 40 years old, I think that 40-year old is the most capable of helping the Reds right now than anyone else. Heck, Edmonds' numbers this year in the time he's got are actually pretty good. He has an 818 OPS with 9 homers in just over 250 plate appearances. I'd take that right now.

Here is the latest on Jay from John Fay:

Jay Bruce (pain in right side) said he is better but not available tonight. Maybe available by Sunday, manager Dusty Baker said. Bruce last played Aug. 30
Cabrera is also still out and will probably miss at least a few more games.

SFC, Homer Bailey, Myself, and Carolina Redleg failed to get a win. It's up to you, Reds44!

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou

I would just like to take a moment to let everyone know that I have never done play by play, and I will not be doing play by play tonight.

    thank you.

    Please let it end.

One thing you have going for you is that the wife and I are NOT attending the game tonight. Which, if things hold, the Reds should win 24-3.
