Eckstein even looks like a smarmy little turd up there.

This game is about 1 inning from being over. It's a shame, because this was our best pitching matchup of the series. Just being realistic. We are playing right into the strength of the Padres tonight.

I certainly hope that you're right, but fully expect that you're wrong.

Oh man. The hall of famer Eckstein made an out, and George almost cried.

Eckstein hits it to the vacuum at 3B who steps on the bag for the force, inning over.

After 5 full, 2-1 bad guys

The Reds aren't good enough to win games without Joey Votto.. It's that simple. We had to be underdogs going into the game tonight.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

Don't the Reds have a winning record without Votto this year?

Sure. If you expect Cairo to hit .650 the rest of the year that's on you. The Reds are just like every other team. The Padres and Cardinals aren't going to win consistently without Gonzalez or Pujols.

I'm not sure what we could be doing differently. Votto can't play. Arroyo's slop facilitates SD's running game, as does their never ending cavalcade of anonymous speedy guys. Their ballpark has eaten two surefire HRs at GABP plus another possible homer. The only thing Dusty could do differently is put someone else in LF, but Heisey is a complete mess at the plate (I would still argue that the tire fire that is Jonny Gomes is worse, but I see the point).

Uh yeah, the Reds are clearly a better team with Votto. For the long haul, they need him in the lineup.

But the Reds have handled themselves just fine when Joey has been out all season.

Rolen lines a basehit into right field.

    1 on for Gomes.

Why is everyone so down on them tonight? Sure, the Padres are a quality team, but they began this month by losing ten in a row...7 of them were here at home. They can be beaten even without Joey Votto.
