I hope one day my kids or grandkids could think and feel the same about me.

Thank you all very much. It has been a tough couple months but I know she is getting emense joy out of watching this playoff run from above.

I'm just glad I was on board and believed in them from the start. Sometimes, the doubters got annoying.

Incredible post, Redsfan30
Beautifully said.
We'll go down in history as the first society that wouldn't save itself because it wasn't cost effective ~ Kurt Vonnegut
Well, as promised many times during contentious threads during the off-season I am happy to eat crow and proclaim from the mountaintops that I was wrong.
I figured there were just too many things that had to go right for them to have a shot. Kids stepping up. Vets having solid years. Surprise performances from players you didn't expect. Injuries happening. Maybe a trade or two to bolster the team.
As the lost decade droned on, and based on all the things that could go wrong, being done at the end of June was the reasonable expectation. It's nice to wish for rainbows and magnets work their magic but after a while reality and experience tells you that rainbows and magnets usually don't work. I guess it's nice to be all romantic and have faith that it will all come together but life doesn't work that way.
One thing I forgot is that baseball isn't life and rainbows and magnets do work from time to time. Kids stepped up. Vets had great years. We got surprise performances. The injuries that happened didn't hurt us (and in some cases helped us). There were even a couple of trades to bolster the team.
I have been quiet from the board for a long time. I'm sure some of you have thought that it was because the team was doing well and I predicted another lost season. That I was hiding. The reality is my Grandmother is dying from Alzheimers, my brother and I are helping my Grandfather care for her, being with my two year old is more interesting than arguing with silly people and work has been busy. Life happens and I'd lost interest in a team that seemingly lost interest in winning.
Lastly, I'm relocating away from Cincinnati. I'm glad to be able to at least see two playoff games in person before I go. Some of the first games I saw were in the late 70's afterglow of the BRM so seeing a couple of playoff games will put a nice bookend on my in-town relationship with the team. I will become an expatriate fan as most on RZ are.
I'd much rather be wrong about predicting disaster, and eat crow on the interweb than pack the moving truck to depart the city limits having given up fully on the Reds. I was wrong about this season and couldn't be happier.
Good luck, ltl, and I will keep a thought for you.
And your post a nice reminder why "call outs" are not a particularly good look for this board...
Redsfan30....you owe me about a half a box of Kleenex. :O) Great post.
This is a special year for me as well. Sorry, getting to the party a little late. My 4 year old daughter has become a big fan along with me and my wife. It is awesome to hear her chear "Go Cincinnati Reds" every time they come on the tv. We stayed up together and watched the celebration the other night, and she had a big smile on her face watching them all have fun. This will be the year I remember as when my daughter became a true fan.
Jack Eliot: I'm a World Series MVP!
Skip: That was four years ago, Jack. Last season, you hit .235.
Jack Eliot: LAST SEASON, I led this team in ninth-inning doubles in the month of August!

Good luck Ltlabner, your a great grandson as well.
Your posting is missed around here, hopefully you can find time to pop in and talk baseball.
When you are Division Champs, crow is removed from the menu...even as a special. Only champagne and cigars around RZ these days.

"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”
Hey Ltl welcome back adn best of luck with the family situation and your move.
What a great year. Team seems to be getting back to midseason form now that BP looks better and the starting staff has rounded back into shape. Good timing. I expect the Phils (assuming Philly) to win in four games, but ya never know...
Hey moderators, let's add "Drew Stubbs" or "Adam Dunn" to the thread title and see if we can get this thread up to the 1000 post mark.
