If Oswalt gets to the 5th with a no hitter, someone please go to ORG and start a no hitter alert thread. That usually breaks up a no hitter faster than anything. No one did that the other night and it costs us.

Is one batting slot enough to get worked up over, when in admittedly small samples one guy kills and the other gets killed?

    One slot? I'd prefer 3.

Nix v. Oswalt: 18 PA, .529/.556/1.176, 9 H (6 XBH), 2 SO, 1 BB. One of those homers gets caught at the wall and his SLG drops .300 points. Color me skeptical, but optimistic.

If he's really that good against him, why not bat him even higher? This strikes me more as Dusty liking to keep guys in their role. LF bats 5th in our lineup.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I'd be fine batting him second and sliding Phillips to 6th.

Me too. Especially against a tough righty. If we're going to use platoon splits, let's really use 'em.

I'm guessing the police might have something to say about that if Nix murders Oswalt on national TV.

I'm sorry, I really need this game to start.

I got mine in the mail the other day. I will be wearing the roster shirt to the game Sunday.

For some reason I'm much more excited and much less nervous for this game than I was game one. Not sure why.

The way I look at it the team just needs to come out loose and play like we know they can and they can win this. The national media has already written them off most of the front runner fans that never follow the team anyway have written them off after the other night. Nobody is really expecting anything but the Phillies to roll this series but if the Reds can pull this off tonight and I like the matchup suddenly we have a series and the stadium will be rocking when they get home on Sunday.

MVP has to be MVP IMO tonight. My guess is that Joey V drives in over half of our runs tonight with at least one coming via the long ball. I hope it is 1-0 after 1 thanks to a solo shot by Votto on the first pitch he sees.
