As in... starting SS, or as in he should fill his roster spot?

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou

I think he moves into Janish's reserve spot, backup 2b, 3b, SS, 1B

I think Cairo's signing bumped Valaika. The Reds need a LH Bat, a better defender who can play SS and maybe a caddy for Rolen. Assuming the Reds add nobody, I'd go with 4 OF and have Francisco and Cozart in the last two bench spots. I do think Valaika could spot at SS or 2B and might make it if they want Cozart playing every day. But if somebody goes down. I don't like the idea of him taking over on a daily basis (especially at SS).
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I dont understand why when someone asks a valid question instead of answering it there's a smart remark made, just give your opinion or move onto another thread, Michelle, most of the problem with Valaika isnt him it'll be Dusty, Dusty like veterans more than rookies unless that said rookie just absolutely tears it up then he has no choice. Valaika IMO was only with the Reds last year it was mainly because he's out of options, he can play too so thats part of it also. I do think with a solid spring he'll stick and become like Ryan Freel was, thats my hope I like the kid, he'll have Frazier to compete with so anything could happen with him this spring

That wasn't true of Drew Stubbs. It wasn't true of Jay Bruce when he was struggling. I continue to argue that Baker has shown himself incredibly patient with our youngsters. Presumably by the end of Baker's career here, the myths will have fallen by the wayside.

Don't bother, facts are just a sidebar to some, they already made their 1 decision on the man and they can't be bothered to do due diligence beyond that.

Instead they just go on and on and on and on and on...

What's been interesting to me is that I don't think Baker ever had a collection of youngsters like he has with the Reds, not with the Giants nor with the Cubs. He had some, but not as many as he has with us.

Valaika is not a good SS. He has too many throwing problems from there.
