Young pops out to Renteria to end the inning. 3-0 Reds.

Mike was getting the ball up in the zone there. He needs to change that quickly.

Possibly saved a run by holding Upton there. That is a perfect case example for the impact of defense on a pitcher's ERA.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Jay Bruce saved the Reds a run there by holding Upton to a single.

It would be neat to quantify actual plays like that over a season.

Single to right. Phillips out at the dish. But Stubbs scored. 4-0 Reds at the end of 1 1/2.

Brandon may have hurt his hand. Trainer out.
