We're fans. As long as he pitches 7 innings and breaks losing streaks for this team do we really care about anything else?

Good start for Leake and a needed win to hit the road. I guess it's time to get out the fire extinguisher for tomorrow's game with Edinson on the mound. I hope he pitches better, but I fear the worst.

Not sure why you would go there. His color has NOTHING to do with why people have been getting on him. Nor does his intellect. His performance DOES. I hope he does well too.....but considering the recent trends, I'm tempering that optimism.
When in doubt, accuse critics of shallow evaluations based on race, hairstyle, or moral standards?
I think Volquez' critics have plenty of baseball evidence to support his unreliablity. Harang is unattractive, but I loved his performance in his prime, and it had nothing to do with his nice guy reputation either. Volquez could be an All-American, church going family man and I'd still be disappointed with the direction his career is going.
