    Raul Valdes in to pitch.

Joey welcomes him with a crisp line drive single to right center.
Phillips pops out to the catcher and Joey takes second while the Cards stand around chatting at the plate.

Bruce rips one into right and it gets there so fast Joey has to hold at third.
Men on the corners with 1 out.
Looks like LaGenius is going for a new crappy pitcher.

Heisey with 2 HR and an over-the-wall catch of a would-be Pujols HR. Perhaps if he, before the night is over, can find a way to cure cancer then he'll be back in the lineup tomorrow?

Nice heads up play by Votto.

Any more info on that play with votto advancing to second? Just have at bat to go off of so that's not very detailed.

Bruce stings one to right. Hit too hard. Votto has to hold at third.

They were trying to figure out how Chris Carpenter's son would have handled that popup.

He tagged up and advanced to second on the foul pop behind the plate. Pujols and Molina got crossed up and then Molina wanted to talk about it with Pujols after the catch. Nobody was paying attention to Joey.

I've really never seen that one before.

LaRussa breaks the seal and goes to the pen. Gonna be a long 3 plus innings from here on out.

By the way...there is a chance that we could be seeing the Pirates in first place tonight. Now be honest...who would've foreseen THAT one coming? :O)

A well rested Scott Rolen really is an All-Star.

    Scottywalks!

Bases juiced, one out for Fred Lewis.

They've had games against the Astros and Cubs exclusively for the past 2 weeks. Hard NOT to be in first after a stretch like that. Even we were earlier in the year after playing those two hacks for a long stretch.

The pirates' tough games are looming.

Now come on....you've got to give the Pirates SOME credit. It's not all about their schedule.

I agree. The Reds did the same thing last year.
