Can someone explain to me the difference between Album of the Year and Record of the Year?

Album is for the whole album.

    Record is for one song.

    Weird nomenclature.

I didn't believe the Grammys were on, so I didn't watch.

I'm finally getting into the second Alabama Shakes album. It took a while, and now I don't understand why.

I've been listening to every REM album from Chronic Town to Collapse Into Now.

(OK, maybe every one except Around the Sun)

Weird- I put them on randomly this morning.

I can't make up my mind if their stuff has aged well or not.

Larry, I like to play Around the Sun/Up/Reveal all in one big playlist on shuffle. This is good morning music.

One of the most beautifully written songs ever. Wish I were old enough then to have seen him live, wish he were still here with us.

Re: What am I listening to? (Part II)

I am very literally listening right now to a Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds concert on MTV Live (formerly Palladium). DirecTV is giving me a three onth preview of some of the HD channels and and I've had it on all afternoon while I'm doing work. I don't know if it's just today or what, but I've liked everything they've had on. Started with an Avett Brothers concert that I missed most of, then went to a festival with Jack Johnson, Amos Lee, Good Old War, Dawes, Trampled by Turtles, Hall and Oates, and a group whose name I need to remember, and now this concert, that's just ending. Good deal.

Hall & Oates are playing at Riverbend on July 20th. Would really like to go see them. Ray LaMontagne is also there in June.
