They were great. I've seen War on Drugs a number of times and they're in excellent form. While I think we all prefer smaller, more intimate venues, their show/music works really well in larger rooms. The new album is a little bit slower for me, but the show was really lively. There was less banter than I had experienced in the past.
I don't think it sold out, but there was a big audience. I was expecting fans to dwindle over the almost two hour show, but folks stuck around. I was hoping to be front and center by the final few songs, but that wasn't happening. Which is cool; a big, engaged crowd is fun.
We got "Tangled Up in Blue" as the encore. They've been playing Tom Petty and Neil Young as well. Dylan, as an obvious influence, was great.
Hope you can make it to Louisville. That's a fun music city.
