That's true. Now that I think about it, defending his MVP almost certainly won't happen. But I stand by the rest of my statement.
Of course, I find it rather ridiculous to give an MVP award in large part due to how good your teammates are, but that's a discussion for another thread.

Bronson Arroyo has looked a whole lot better here lately. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

That'd be fine with me. If Pujols truly had the better year, then he deserves to win the MVP award.
However, had the voters not taken into account how good a player's teammates are (like that will ever happen), I still think Votto wins -- he had a higher BA, OPS, WPA, wOBA, RC, etc. (Pujols did nudge him in WAR, 7.5 to 7.3) . It just wouldn't have been a landslide.
