Re: Reds at Cardinals - 9/3/11

WLB's now ahead 5-2 on a triple by Jay followed by consecutive singles hit by Pujols and Holliday. Bailey not on his A game, and really struggled against Holliday who fouled off about 10 pitches before collecting his hit. Reds escape inning after Hanigan throws out Berkman stealing and Freese strikes out for the second time. Bailey at 69 pitches after three innings.

Stubbs singles but gets picked off first by Garcia. Follows last inning where Bruce gets thrown out at second trying to stretch a single.

Carlos Fisher replaces Bailey in the fourth and retires the bottom of the Cardinal lineup 1-2-3.

Nothing doing for the Reds in the fifth. Lecure replaces Fisher on the mound.

Still 6-2 after six. Garcia coming out of the game, as Corey Patterson struck out pinch hitting for the Cards' starter. Frazier, Hanigan and Lecure due up, facing Boggs.

Mesoraco doubles as a pinch hitter for Lecure. Way to go, kid.

Mes hits the first MLB pitch he sees for a double at the base of the LF wall.

Reds leave Mesoraco stranded. Still 6-2. Horst in to pitch.

Would it be a sin for Dusty to let Mesoraco start a few games?

Hopefully, we'll see him start a game soon.

Horst works out of a jam after allowing a doubl to Pujols and intentional walk to Holliday. Still 6-2 going into the eighth.
