Feels like spring training. Which is ok under the circumstances.
Nice to see Mes back in there and moved up the order a tad. Really nice to see Stubbs get a day off. Valaika at short? Hmmmm. Not exactly a fantastic left side to say the least.
Just saw this on Sheldon's blog, this is Sappelt's first ML start at center. I never really thought about it before, but he HAS been in left a bunch.

What's the point in playing at chicago, and playing a night game? I guess the bleacher bums make sure their kids go to school.
Great to see Sappelt get a start in CF and Valaika at SS.
So bummed -- had tickets to this game but lost them. They were physical tickets, not online, so I'm SOL. Well, at least I'll warm...
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
Anybody else notice that Phillips seems to be taking his last practice swing really, really late the last few games? Seems like his bat isn't even getting back in to position until the ball is half way to home plate.

Sappelt with a line drive double to LC. That's how it's supposed to look.

Nice catch by Sappelt.
He should get a lot of playing time in CF now. Reds will want to avoid a Stubbs K record.
Could have sworn that on that strike 3 pitch to Aramis Ramirez, Marty said 'Bronson deals, and Ramirez swings and misses....' Of course tonight it's not Bronson, but Mike Leake....

Nope. Dusty said in the pregame that Stubbs will be back there tomorrow. They want to get him 100 runs. And Stubbs won't get close to the All Time record. The Reds have 21 games left. He needs 39 strikeouts in that time to tie the record. Stubbs strikes out a lot. Even he doesn't strike out that much.
I think you are right, but Stubbs has struck over 40 times in a month twice this year... Splits here.
