    Cubs 8th:

Ondrusek in pitching for the Redlegs.

    Castro singles to right.
Johnson sac bunts Castro to 2nd.
    Ramirez is walked intentionally.

    Billy Bray in to pitch.
Pena launches a mammoth HR out of Wrigley Field into Sheffield Avenue.
Soriano flies out to Heisey in left.
    LaHair Ks swinging.

    After 8, Cubs 6, Reds 3.

Just one bad pitch. Where have we hear that before?

    Game over. Reds lose.

    The Reds Pitiful 9th:

Phillips Ks swinging for the fences.
Renteria Ks swinging at a terible pitch a foot outside and low.
Votto grounds out to Pena unassisted.

Final score: Cubs 6 Reds 3.

Ans we have to hear 'Go Cubs Go'....

Need offense. No, we're just fine. I'm confused. Reds get outscored 12-10 against one of the worst teams in baseball. They are 70-73 on the season and continue to inch toward finishing just below .500. How disappointing.

I agree. I believe Francisco can be very productive Hitter who can play pretty decent defense at 3B and LF.

There's going to have to be more rebuilding in that bullpen this offseason than I had hoped for.

That is a terrible theme song. I mean how can anyone dance or enjoy that with a straight face.

Even in a snakebit frustrating season like this, I hate off days. And the skies a miserable drizzly non-baseball day. Ugh.

    Re: 9.7.11 Reds @ Cubs

Something that struck me during the series was how the worm has turned for these two franchises. The Reds are running out 1st round draft picks ready to crack through to the majors. The Cubs are calling up guys with Le and La in their last name, neither of which look to be any threat to be anymore than bench players. They're playing Tyler Colvin, who last I checked was challenging Adam Dunn's BA. They have three more years of Alfonso Soriano's stellar bat and LF defense to pay for, or pay him not to play bad. Rotation? We don't need no stinkin' rotation.

While the Reds have their own problems (pitching), I'll cast our lots against the state of the rest of our division, despite our tough luck 2011. Milwaukee's ripe this year, St. Louis is on life support, the Pirates played as good as they could play and still have a losing season, and the Cubs and Astros are years away from recovery.

This all is so eerily similar to the transition year of 1971 to the BRM, lets hope they go fill the holes this offseason, solidify the rotation to support the offense, and start our own run of winning baseball again in the Queen City.

I agree, reminds me of January when we just stare out the window and wait for spring.
