The old refrigerators had one moving part- the compressor- and no electronics. Even the compressor was switched on and off directly from the bi metal thermostat. And the compressor itself was very rugged, using technology from the wartime effort.

From the time I bought my 1950’s fridge in 1992, each spring I would say a little prayer hoping it would turn on after being off all winter. The last 20 years I do not think a second about it. I KNOW it will turn on.

Whew, and it still keeps the beer Ice cold.

But how is it that those old refrigerators never need Freon or anything? I would think the seals would go bad. They need nothing. I got a small one in my garage. It's subjects to all kinds of weather since there is no climate control there. I've dragged it off to college with me. It came from my grandfather's medical practice before that. Never had a lick of issue with it. I occasionally defrost the freezer part

I’ll bet if you looked at it closer you would find that there were no seals. It was all copper tubing that was brazed together and it was a closed loop system. Now, the systems are more modular to accommodate assembly and they use seals.

What BernieCarbo said plus maybe me turning off the 1950’s Fridge in the winter keeps it from deteriorating. My garage is not climate controlled.

Budweiser Will Give You Beer Money When You Get Vaccinated

OK, so how does this work? All you have to do is upload proof of your vaccination (a selfie with your sticker, photo of your band-aid, or image of you at the vaccination site) through ABeerOnBud.com. Now until May 16, or while supplies last, the brand will send vaccinated folks a $5 virtual debit card to cover the cost of a Budweiser. There are 10,000 virtual debit cards up for grabs.

Last call: Arizona man (In Hospice) to get one last can of Olympia beer as dying wish

Eventually, they found a man who also shared a love of the nostalgic beer and was willing to share his last can.

As of Wednesday, the can was in the mail and expected to make it to its final destination.

“The gentleman that’s donating the beer, one of the things he told me is, he was keeping some of these Olympia beers in his refrigerator and once a month he would drink one,” Williams said. “For the same reason, it was nostalgia.

Man leads police on pursuit in stolen beer truck

    https://www.wyomingnewsnow.tv/2021/1...en-beer-truck/

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) - A man hoping to score some free beer Monday didn’t get the outcome he was looking for.

He’s accused of stealing a truck full of beer as the drivers were making a delivery to a liquor store. They reported the rig stolen just before 3 p.m. Monday.

The suspect then led police on a slow pursuit of 10 to 15 mph throughout the city, until the truck crashed into a pole.

Footage of the crash shows the lift gate was down with beer pouring out of the back of the truck. There is no official word on how much was lost during the chase. The distributor and general manager did not have an official comment.

According to police, neither of the drivers were injured, and the suspect is now in custody. He has been identified as 44-year-old Jeremy Fellela.

Fellela has been charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, reckless and eluding police, and refusal to submit for a chemical test.

You have to actually buy a case of Bud to have a chance to win the money. What do you do with the 24 cans of Bud? It's not like they're drinkable.

It's not hot so I'd use them as beers I'd drink after good beers, like seltzer
