Annual "Pitchers & Catchers Report" illustration

For the last several years, my daughter, who is an illustrator, has put out an illustration to commemorate this fine day of the year - Pitchers & Catchers reporting for spring training. Here is this year's illustration which she titled "Strikeout." She titled her blogpost for it as "The Old Ballgame". I know I'm biased, but it's another really good one.

Here's a link to the blog listing. It has links to the previous four years. Last year's was a fine one. I'm thinking of getting a t-shirt with it on it.

That's a nice one. Just out of curiosity, is she using chalk or pastels?

Pastels in all of her work.

Thanks, very nice work. Very talented daughter.

So should it be subtitled "The Stubbs?"

Since that's an opposing player whiffing, I'd say that would be a no. I do think Chapman is the inspiration for the pitcher.

Pulling this forward - my daughter's annual illustration commemorating Pitchers & Catchers reporting. She posted it this morning on her blog

    http://thefinestmuffins.blogspot.com...e-go-2014.html

I see I didn't do an update last year, so here's the collection. I still love the sunrise one and have a tile of it on my wall in my quasi-baseball museum and had it printed on a cloth shopping bag for me wife.

    Enjoy.

Re: Annual "Pitchers & Catchers Report" illustration

Periodically my daughter prints up postcards to send out to art directors and other potential clients for her freelance illustration work. As many of you know, she does some baseball themed work. Here's a card she posted for such a mailing.

Re: Annual "Pitchers & Catchers Report" illustration

As I wrote on Facebook today, I went to bed anticipating this; my daughter's annual illustration commemorating Pitchers & Catcher's reporting. Here's this year's entry which I really like, because, as she notes, they're some preliminary drawings she's done for a children's book idea she's working on. Enjoy.

You can see previous years from this link. She's done this since 2008.

She just saw Martin Sheen speak at the Smithsonian last night.

Re: Annual "Pitchers & Catchers Report" illustration

Anymore, I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning waiting for my daughter's annual Pitchers & Catcher's reporting day illustration. More so this year since she messaged us four sketches she was working on. This was the family consensus and she hit a home run with it, if I may be allowed a apt baseball metaphor. Enjoy. I think this is one of the best.

Outstanding work by your daughter, Redsmetz!
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.
