I'll jump on the Verdugo bandwagon. He is exactly the kind of guy I want to see coming to the Reds in a Bruce trade.

Barnes is like a Jordan Pacheco who can actually do the stuff that Pacheco was supposed to be able to do...

About 10 days ago, there was some noise that Houston was interested in Bruce too. There recent hot streak probably hasn't cooled that interest.

We should start looking at comps from last season to get an idea of what the market is like for Bruce.
Probably the best comp is Cespedes going from the Tigers to the Mets (after the Bruce trade fell through). Detroit got RHPs Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa in the deal. Fulmer was listed as Detroit's top prospect after the trade. And before this season, he was listed by several outlets as being around #50 in their top prospect lists. Fulmer is now a starter in Detroit's rotation and has pitched very effectively. Cessa doesn't appear on any top prospect lists. He was traded by the Tigers to the Yankees with Chad Green for LHP Justin Wilson. Cessa has just recently been recalled and made his major league debut with the Yankees. He's pitched well in limited action as a middle reliever.
Bruce comes with an option year at $13MM or can be bought out for $1MM. If the option is picked up the club that trades for him can deal him next year at the deadline or make him a QO (if that system is still in place) and get compensation. To me that's worth something extra, but it really depends on how the clubs see it. There is also the slight risk that Bruce will decline after the trade, but all teams are taking that risk when they trade for a player so I'm not sure how much that factors into this.
So for Cespedes, the price was a top 50 prospect and another useful piece.
Alex Verdugo was listed by Baseball America as #100 on their list of top 100 prospects pre-season. Maybe the aim should be higher? Or maybe the Dodgers need to include a third useful piece. Something to think about.

Carlos Gomez is another comp. Gomez and pitcher Mike Fiers and cash went to the Astros for LHP Josh Hader, RHP Adrian Houser, OF Brett Phillips, and OF Domingo Santana.
Hader was listed pre-season by mlb.com as their #61 prospect and is Milwaukee's #14 prospect.
Houser is Milwaukee's #29 prospect
Phillips is listed by multiple outlets between #32 and #61 prospect on their top lists as well as Milwaukee's #2 prospect.
Santana is established in the majors but currently on the DL with an elbow injury. He OPSed .737 in 40 games this year.
Would a comp be Bruce+Straily?
In that case, something like Verdugo, Trayce Thompson, and 2 pitchers with at least one in the top 100 of all baseball (Holmes?) and another useful piece?

Doubt you could get Alex Verdugo, but if you did could very likely be a one for one trade
Forget trading him, the Reds should sign Bruce to a LTC.
Hahahahaha.
Shake it off.
I've seen the idea thrown out by Tribe fans to trade Bauer for Bruce straight up. Intriguing to say the least, especially if the Reds could get LAD or BOS involved in a 3-way conversation, with Bauer going to one of those teams and the Reds getting prospects in return.
