Re: Another Top 100. This time from CBS Fantasy Sports

This is a fantasy baseball list and the rankings are based on who is likely to help a fantasy team in the near future. Greene has a couple more years of minor league starting before he'll be ready for a big league rotation and innings are the primary reason. Greene is absolutely a prove it prospect because he hasn't really pitched a season where some innings have accumulated on his arm since he was a Junior in high school. He needs to prove he can handle a full season of starting and it's probably going to be too soon for him to do it in 2021. Still, he's the team's top prospect IMO, just not from a fantasy perspective for this year.

I do think Greene could contribute this year if the Reds wanted to use him in the bullpen. The team's pen is thin and using Greene would allow the reds to address that without spending money or having to wait for Greene to build his innings. If the Reds were planning something like that, he'd probably be in the top 10 on this list.

He pitched 100 innings last year at Prasco and Driveline.

India ahead of Garcia, Greene and Stephenson is silly. Not much stock in this list.

Good Lord this is a fantasy list guys.

Defense doesn’t count and if you steal 10 bases you could be considered a king.

Simulated games provide work, but they don't count like a real game does. I hope the Reds shut Greene down this year at 110 innings max. He's still their best propsect. Coddle thy pitchers. Cup of coffee in late 2022. Full shot in 2023 unless he goes to the pen. I don't think there is any chance he pitches in the big leagues in 2021, so a fantasy list isn't going to rank him very high. That is what this list is for.

Well, it's a dynasty league fantasy list, so not being expected to reach the Majors in 2021 wouldn't ding him too bad.

Baseball America just released their top 100. Hunter Greene is not on it.

Only Reds are Garcia and Hendricks.

I am still being called dumb.

I’m open to hearing why we should subdue our expectations, but so far the whole argument seems to be that he hasn’t pitched in official games in a pretty long time.

My big takeaway is that the people making these lists were not as impressed with India as the Reds are telling everyone they should be.

Other than the timeline because of TJ absolutely nothing has changed that made him an elite prospect to begin with.

I would say his odds of fulfilling his potential have actually increased with the changes the Reds have made in the pitching development department since the time he was drafted.

    India?
    Lodolo?
    Garcia?
    Stephenson?

Those are also 4 people who have never been in my kitchen.

I agree. If the video posted last summer when he was working with Bauer at Goodyear is any indication, the movement looks nasty. Perhaps he has taken a little off the FB to get more movement.
