Shouldn't the Reds be talking to Drury's rep about a 2 or 3 year extension? He's not the defensive liability at 3B that Moustakas is. And I don't think he's going to fall off the cliff offensively like Farmer.

Or maybe they want to wait for him to put up 25 HR and 85 ribbies before they engage with him?

Drury is delivering what Solano was signed for, nice find but he's a 30 year old BU with a lifetime OPS+ of 87

I mean I guess it depends on the contract he demands. If its reasonable for a utility player I'm all for it.

My guess is for 2023 we see India move to 3B, and McLain takes over 2B. That leaves Drury a spot in the OF if he is playing every day. I'm not as confident in his bat holding up for a corner OF spot over 162 games. I'm also not sure the numbers indicate he is very good defensive player in the OF.

My guess is Drury serves the Reds well for another 45 days and gets flipped for a teams #18 prospect.

If he'd sign as a bench player - say 2 years, for 6 or 7 Million (3 to 4 Million per year) total sure. If its more than that, pass and see if he can be flipped for the next suspect at the deadline.

If McLain is close, the India move to 3B (with McLain at 2B) does make sense.

When Solano was 30, he was three steps down from where Drury is now. I'm all for a kiddie infield of McLain, Barrero and India, but I think that requires solid veteran back-ups. I'd offer both Farmer and Drury cheap deals to provide some security for a couple of years with the knowledge going in that they are going to be insurance policies/bench players.

I certainly wouldn't offer him starter money or sign him with the intent of him getting more than 200 to 250 PAs next year.

Except Drury can play both 3B and 2B (and even Corner OF) better than either of those guys. I'm pro-Schrock, but he takes Moran's spot. Drury takes the spot they opened the year with Aquino in IMO. I'd rather have Drury to Solano.

I'd say the best time to offer 30 year old guys on their 5th team multi -year contracts to be backups is in the offseason, not after 89 PA's

That could happen, but this year they are paying Solano... unless he gets better soon and gets rolled into a deal in July, that off course would just be to shed salary, I would not expect anything in return

I’d leave him alone. See if anyone wants to take the hot bat as sweetener in a deal for one of the pitchers. If he’s still around and putting up good numbers at the end of the year, maybe see what he’ll take to backup. If he wants starter money, have someone else pay him that.

Not interested. Enjoying what he is doing now. In the offseason you look for next year's Brandon Drury. I'm not interested in doing anything for Farmer either. Spend it on the pitching.
