Switch hitter that can cover 1b. He’d be a more versatile Votto replacement. It makes sense.

    Due diligence?

Trying to drive up his price so Milwaukee doesn’t sign him?

Precursor to India and/or Marte trade?

Who knows? Probably just silly rumors.

Candelario absolutely makes sense, especially if India and Senzel are on the move. A good LH hitting option that can cover the infield corners can really help with the mix and match game and keep everyone fresh.

I like the idea of approaching the position player roster in a holistic way, rather than a section for starters and a section for bench guys. Having 13 guys that can start is ideal. Candelario fits that like a glove.
Empathy is about standing in someone else's shoes, feeling with his or her heart, seeing with his or her eyes. Not only is empathy hard to outsource and automate, but it makes the world a better place.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Reds sign a bat and trade for SP. It's obviously easier to get offensive talent to come to GABP, and trading for SP let's them pick the contract they take on for that spot.

They can go big game hunting if Marte, Steer, or CES is in play, and I think India plus a top prospect might get them there as well.

Just a joke, not criticizing the admins, I understand why they did what they did

If I remember, he really didn't want to leave here.
Other than, you know, affirmatively opting out of the $40 million or so he had left on his deal with us and then signing elsewhere.

I would pass on Castellanos at 3/60. Now if the Phills want to pick up some of that remaining 60 there's a conversation to be had. From my view the Reds need a middle of the order lefty bat to hit in between McLain, Steer, and CES.

From a stat point of view, I'd like to have Castellanos back.
We could really use a RH bat power bat in the OF.
I'm going to put aside the financial part of the deal for the sake of this post.
My concern though is that Castanallos wants to be part of a winner, and he felt dissed by the Reds.
I'd be concerned, esp if the team was playing below 500 or even a marginal WC contender (like let's say a slow start) that he'd not be very happy here. I'm sure he'd be professional, but he really doesn't seem to like the front office, etc.. It would make me a little bit hesistant.

But if the Phils are going to buy an upgrade to him, and are giving him away and willing to eat salary, why not?

Just a point of distinction, I don't recall (and I could be wrong) that he ever spoke anything poor of the front office. It was specifically at ownership, which of course the front office represents.

He actually said Krall was "a really good guy." And I believed was a fan of Bell as well and the city/fans.

Isn't Castellanos a defensive liability in the OF?
