Brewers Place Christian Yelich On Injured List, Select Greg Jones

The Brewers on Tuesday placed outfielder/designated hitter Christian Yelich on the 10-day injured list due to a left groin strain, per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Milwaukee selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Greg Jones from Triple-A Nashville to take Yelich’s spot on the 40-man roster.

Yelich was out to a strong start, having slashed .314/.375/.451 with a homer, a triple, two doubles and three steals through his first 56 plate appearances. The 34-year-old left Sunday’s game with what the team first described as a possible hamstring injury, however, before eventually being diagnosed with the groin strain.

There’s no immediate timetable for his potential return, though to this point there’s no indication that Yelich is expected to be faced with a particularly long absence.

Trevor Megill blows a save in the 9th for Milwaukee. He gave up 3 runs and his team is now down 2 in the bottom of the 9th

Cleveland, up by one, boots a ball on defense with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th in St Louis. Next hitter knocks him in for an unearned run and they're going to the 10th. Painful

knock on wood, of course, but it seems like trading all their good pitchers away may finally be catching up to the Crew

The Tigers announced Wednesday that they’ve agreed to an eight-year, $150MM extension with infielder Kevin McGonigle. The contract begins next season — he’s still on a league-minimum salary in 2026 — and runs through 2034.

Reds really need to get working on something with Stewart if they aren't already.

Lowder is making hitters look so silly it's making national news

If this doesn’t sum up the Giants season so far, I’m not sure what does.

Look at where this pitch was that Ramos swung at.

Minnesota Twins Look To Keep Potent Offense Rolling vs Cincinnati Reds in 3 Game Series
Minnesota Twins will look to keep their potent offense rolling on Friday night when they open a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds in Minneapolis.

Minnesota won eight of nine games before falling 9-5 to the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.

The Twins are second in the American League *in home runs with 26, and third in runs (103) and RBIs (98).

Cincinnati, meanwhile, is tied atop the National League Central with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Reds managed only one hit in a 3-0 home loss to the San Francisco Giants on Thursday.

It will be a homecoming for Reds left-hander Brandon Williamson (1-1, 5.28 ERA) on Friday. The Fairmont, Minn., native is scheduled to make his first career start against the Twins.

José E. Feliciano, Kwanza Jones near deal to buy Padres for MLB-record $3.9 billion: Sources

A group led by Chelsea Football Club co-owner José E. Feliciano and his wife Kwanza Jones is closing in on a deal to purchase the San Diego Padres for what will be a record-shattering $3.9 billion, multiple people with knowledge of the deal told The Athletic.

The expected agreement, which will require approval by 75 percent of the league’s owners, easily surpasses the $2.42 billion Steve Cohen paid for the New York Mets in 2020. While the final net amount will be subject to the Padres’ roughly $300 million in debt and other terms, the expected price could reverberate throughout the sport as it approaches a pivotal labor fight.

Jose Feliciano? I had no idea that "Feliz Navidad" made him so much money that he could afford to buy the Padres.
