Reds with great road series sweep. Beating Ryan in the first game was the key. Stying close vrs Bradley in the second game was unexpected, but awesome and then our lack of success vrs Ober was a surprise. Lucky break for the reds was the closer and top set up man out for the series. Closer Lawyerson is on the DL. And setup man Funderburk and his wife Alicia are expecting a baby, but Alicia was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She has begun chemotherapy treatment, but it’s on hold as the arrival date of baby Funderburk approaces, and he is taking a break for baseball to help her. A very stressful situation.

Aside from the win and sweep, it was nice to see some good things happen for guys who really needed something good to happen. Unfortunate for Hayes that he had another well struck out. He's obviously very limited offensively, but he's had a bit of bad luck as well. Hopefully one of those finds a gap sooner than later.

Didn’t get follow the game as I planned today - bummed I missed it - mostly from the 9th on, lol.

This team’s margin for error is so small, but you have to give them credit for playing to the last out. I don’t know the last time a Reds team has been so determined with it. Francona effect? Could be.

Good thing today is the role players, (thus far) non-hitters were the catalyst and had the big hits. This team’s margin is going to need that, so that’s hopefully a trend beginning to start. Hinds was key, albeit vs the Twins terrible pen. Still a great happening.
What a great sweep vs a team that was hitting well!

What really let the Twins down in this series was their defense

The Reds had a lot of clutch late-inning hitting in 2023 but this stretch of winning 1 run games and winning to this degree is unlike any stretch I can remember in the last 40 years. It is the first time I have ever felt that the Reds were finally experiencing that supernatural boost from the baseball gods that other teams have received many times over in the last few decades.

As we're on a Reds forum, I'm going to assume those "supernatural boosts from the baseball gods that other teams have received many times over in the last few decades" were mostly from viewing Reds games and those supernatural boosts were caused by those sad excuses of a Reds bullpen and not from the baseball gods.

If I had a Little Leaguer, no way I would want him calling my kid's game.

There has to be consequences for such bad umpiring. They cannot allow umps to make this many blown strike/ball gaffes.
