Chicago Cubs - 104-58
Cincinnati Reds - 104-58
Pittsburgh Pirates - 95-67
St. Louis Cardinals - 95-67

Yes, this won't happen. But it's a pretty amazing start for the division anyway.

What Tigers' Kevin McGonigle And Joe DiMaggio Have In Common Right Now
Read Full Article HereCincinnati — Some stats are projective. Some stats are compilations. And there are others that simply reflect this moment in time. Stats that make no pretense about what they might mean tomorrow or down the road.
They are just a snapshot of where a team or a player is right now. And, if taken in proper context, they can be fun.
Like this one: Tigers’ 21-year-old rookie Kevin McGonigle, 25 games into his big-league career, has produced on a level equal to Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio and Ducky Medwick at the same age.
McGonigle, entering the game Friday night, has 30 hits, 10 doubles and just 14 strikeouts.
Only five other players his age or younger have done that to start their careers: DiMaggio and Roy Weatherly in 1936, Medwick in 1932 and Joe Vosmik in 1930 and 1931.
Doesn’t mean McGonigle is going to end up in Cooperstown. It just means he’s off to a helluva start.

Quite a game between the Cardinals and Mariners. Currently tied in the 9th. Both teams have 9 runs. Mariners on 18 hits, Cardinals on 14. Both starters were knocked out of the game after 3 innings.
I didn't realize that Reds' great, Connor Joe, was with the Mariners.

Empathy is about standing in someone else's shoes, feeling with his or her heart, seeing with his or her eyes. Not only is empathy hard to outsource and automate, but it makes the world a better place.

That reminds me of this great story from Mark Grace:
One day Rick gave up back-to-back home runs in Cincinnati. And in Cincinnati, they shoot off fireworks after a Red hits a home run. And Sutcliffe was pretty intense on the day he pitched. So Eric Davis takes him deep, and Paul O'Neill takes him deep right after that. So Sutcliffe is all mad, and [pitching coach] Billy Connors comes out to the mound, and Sutcliffe yells at him "I know I gave up back-to-back home runs, but get your ass back in the dugout and tell [manager Don] Zimmer to settle down too!" Billy looks at him and says, "I know you have everything under control, Rick. I just wanted to give that guy running the fireworks a little more time to reload."
