You are being disingenuous. It isn't just Elly:

2/5 of rotation on IL with Singer being ineffective. I mean, the Reds are trotting out Chris Paddock every 5th day.

The bullpen is hurt and bad. The worst bullpen in baseball.

The best player on the team just went on the IL.

The team's rd is -32 (only 2 teams in NL are worse)

They are in last place in division

so on and so forth

It is not that the sky is falling, people are just being realistic. Rightfully so.

With all of that, they are 2 games above, and would be tied for first in the AL West.

OK, but Hunter, Elly, Pagan, and Lowder area all on the IL and the Reds probably aren't going to win 97 games this year.

I have no idea how the rest of the season will go, but wanting to give up on this season on June 1 when you're 1 game out of it is ridiculous. I would genuinely question whether a person who took that position even enjoys watching baseball.

For example, Since May 1st they are 10-17.

They are not going to magically flip to what they did in April with everything that has accumulated.

Not saying give up now. I am saying it is time to PREPARE to sell. You simply cannot wait until 5 days before the deadline to figure out if you are going to buy or sell. Krall sucks, so that is probably exactly what he will do, though.

I can guarantee you that the Reds front office, like every other front office, is doing this everyday, regardless of the team’s situation.
