I have to say...the game has changed and with that my expectations have as well...

Unless you have a true horse on the mound, go for the team no-hitter rather than the individual one.

    Nice work by Gausman.

Every time he comes into a game I think of one of my favorite movies:

I wanted Lewis, too. I think a few of us did.

Who’s going to get you the team no-hitter. Amir Garrett?

This guy with the 4.95 ERA might be our chance.

Middle of the lineup. This is the inning to do something.

I don’t think Lewis is gonna turn into a whole lot (I think the knee injury left him a less impactful player), but damned if he didn’t stick it to the Reds for passing on him...
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I mean the odds are against 3 no-hit innings from the pen but if we are talking odds, Garrett (& Co.) is better than gassed Gray.

I wouldn't mind watching Gausman throw that splitter a lot as a starter next year.

I'm a dinosaur, but I am always going to give a pitcher an opportunity to complete a no-hitter. Every time you go to the bullpen, you invite disaster.

    Well.

    That certainly didn't go well.

Isn’t letting tired Gray pitch inviting disaster as well?

Answer (proven): Yes. Yes it is.

Let him try out for a spot, sure. But don't pencil him in.

He was released for a reason. If he's solid as a reliever that's still a huge win. The Reds have shown this year that you need a lot of reliable relievers if you don't wanna burn your pen up by the break.

RedsZone says he was gassed. In retrospect he was gassed.

But this bullpen hasn’t been reliable.

Gray gave up a homer. Last night Garrett gave up a homer.

I still go with him. If he has given up 0 hits in 6 innings, then he deserves to be guy to give up the first one.
