Its an error or a fielders choice. Blandino needs to get an out somewhere on that play. Reds get to start with a man on 2nd also. That's why the rule makes it less advantage to the home team in extra innings.

Honestly the one person I’ll point the finger at the most for this one is Castellini and everyone up top. They had that amazing first week or so, and since then some of the glaring holes they left on the roster by being miserly penny pinchers are starting to rear their head. The bullpen looks like a Chernobyl level nuclear disaster at the moment, and it’s not helping that issue either that they’ve let scrap heap guys into the rotation the pen has to bail out too.

I don’t get the blame on Payton there. If Calhoun traps that ball or pulls up he has to stay at second, hence the pause and look back.

Baseball people, well beyond the Reds, simply don’t operate under message board rules of “if you were bad recently you are never to be trusted”. I learned to accept that as a fact of life many years ago but fans really enjoy getting their blood raised over such things I guess.

Hate to say it but these last 2 games are very similar to what we’ve seen in the past. Failure on so many levels and just awful luck to boot. Such a hard team to root for.
