It only took the Reds into the 5th inning to get their first hit. That will average out for about 2 hits in 9 innings tonight. I can't remember ANY team so futile on offense as the Reds are now. And I have been following baseball since the Mets came into the league (1962).

    The Padres earlier this year.

This offense is terrible right now though, no doubt.

I'll be satisfied if Axelrod can go another inning. This was always going to be a tough matchup for him, back in the AL against the league leaders in homers.

Can anyone tell me why we're so futile? It's not effort, not talent, not luck. Can't be coaching. What is it?
Attended 1976 World Series in my Mother's Womb. Attended 1990 World Series Game 2 as a 13 year old. Want to take my son to a a World Series Game in Cincinnati in my lifetime.

Axlerod has done an admirable job in his outings. A much better showing than Holmberg. He could make a run at a roster spot next spring.

I forgot about the '68 Sox. Great pitching with Horlen, Peters etc, but their hitting....baaaaaaaad.

Going to take a big comeback effort to only lose by one run tonight.
