The Reds are about 560K$ under their pool through 17 signings.

The Reds are likely to stay under their pool. Teams who stay under get an equal share of all team overages.

    That's certainly on brand.

Saw that and was shocked based upon my discussions. At least one team had him much lower on their draft board (i don’t know where but it was a lot lower) so hopefully the Reds know something they don’t know.

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

    Not sure I understand.

The Reds, they are often cheap.

(Which is debatable under the Castellini ownership.)

If you think the Reds are cheap check out the Orioles. They are like $2.5m under budget and have no anticipated over-slot deals incoming.

With Raffield's signing today @125K$, only 4 remain.

The Reds made some roster moves this weekend that will open a few spots in Arizona.

Though I have a feeling the first actual assignment will be 1Bman Ruben Ibarra, I expect him to join Low A Daytona this coming week. Just a hunch based on roster moves though, nothing definitive.

    That'd be a fun watch: the 290 lb. man v. Florida's power-sapping humidity.

I really want Ibarra to be interesting in a Kevin Mitchell kind of way.

    Per Rotoworld:

“Jim Callis of MLB.com says that McLain's bonus will be $4.625 million, which is more than $1 million more than the slot value for the No. 17 pick of $3.6097 million. The former UCLA Bruin is viewed as a potential fast-mover and should be able to stick at shortstop.”
"It's still a long way to the top if we want to rock'n'roll, but at least they dumped the tuba player."
