Your right my friend it was outside. But swinging at a curve without seeing a strike first.... with the sacks drunk....two outs, .....in the bottom of Nine.....down by one......after the previous three batters walked.......is a felony brother.

Yeah I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think Dusty gets a hit there.

About to be a WHOPPING 5 games back and we haven't even played 3 full weeks yet.

This is not enjoyable at all.

Too soon to ask for Dusty back?

Dusty massages Pena's shoulders before that at bat, loosens him up, and Pena smacks a double off the fence on that third pitch. Instead, Sleeping Price just stands there and lets Pena look at strike three.

Oh, ok. So he just has to expand his zone a few inches outside and still maintain control of the inside part of the plate while hitting off of David Price? That's not asking much . David freaking Price is damn near unhittable with that zone, especially for a guy who is more of a pull hitter.

I'll jokes aside.... It's very early. This teams offense will certainly affect Prices patience. The starting pitching is still the teams strength, but you have to score runs to win a game not just prevent them.

It'll be interesting if Price pleads for more offense by May. There are too many out machines on this team. Regardless if Hamilton proves himself worthy on the lead off spot or not, they have two rapidly aging right handed hitting veterans and four other right handed hitters with glaring holes in their approach.

Then Brian Price should have recognized that after 2 or 3 at bats and pinch hit.

I agree with you about Price, but having an inside out swing on a marginal outside strike is not going to suddenly give up the inside part of the zone. If anything, it will improve Ludwicks chances because he likes the ball in. Prove you can hit the outside pitch and the scouting report will change in your favor. Realize what the pitcher is trying to do after several at bats instead of waiting for your pitch.

While I agree, he did not have an alternative. Heisey is the same type of hitter and Bernadina is left handed.

Both Heisey and Bernadina were in the game at that point. That's why I said this was a time when the Reds miss Skip Schumaker. He would have known exactly how to handle both a wild pitcher and an inconsistent ump.

Good call. Didn't know that. Schumaker is a huge loss. It'll be interesting to see if he provides a spark even if he doesn't play often.

Yeah, I agree that that type of swing would certainly improve his game, I just think it's a lot to ask. Posters were giving Ludwick a lot of flak, but I'm going to give him a pass on this one. David Price and a VERY pitcher-friendly ump makes for a tough combination.

Yeah this lineup is full of under-talented players still. What's new.

Man, that ending was such a tease.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
