Hear Yankees “total focus” right now is on Gerrit Cole. PHI, TEX, LAD, LAA are other teams known to be in but Yankees don’t want to be denied.

Probably for the best the Reds didn't get him. Seems like someone who will be way overpaid. Ozuna to the White Sox.

Hope that's true. Didn't want him.

I'd like to get Castellanos but there's not been any reported interest in him from the Reds that I've seen.

With two major signings, hopefully the White Sox will stay out of the way for awhile.

They got Grandal, now maybe Ozuna, they are rumored to be in on all the non-Cole starting pitchers.

I wouldn't mind a couple more years of Iglesias. As of now, I'm not aware of another SS to back up or share time with Galvis.......if he's the starter. Blandino isn't the answer, imo. Of course Didi could change that.

The Reds need offense. Even with Moustakas, the offense is still in deep trouble. Neither Galvis nor Iglesias address that issue. The real problem is declining production at 1B and so much uncertainty in the OF, but that isn't changing, so places like SS and C need more production than the players there now can offer. The individual players all have there uses, but the way it's constructed just doesn't fit as a team. They've backed themselves into a corner where they have to get more offense from traditionally defensive positions. The mistake can be traced to punting Votto's prime seasons and not cashing him in to turn the page so he wouldn't be a drag on the other side of the rebuild. But it's where they are now, so they need to go get more offense by either giving up the upside of one or more of the projected outfielders for a more proven producer or downgrading the defense in place of offense at C or SS. Either way could work, but the current projected starting eight isn't good enough. They need two more proven above average bats.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Agree with mth. Don't think we'll get two, but have got to get one more bat.

Sure, but only for $2M or less a year...more than that no thanks

I am beginning to come around on the idea of signing Ozuna for LF. I think there is a lot of life left in his bat, and he won't kill you in LF like Castellanos would (though Ozuna does have bouts of looking lost in the field). He's the OF equivalent of Moustakas. Solid, market-rate production at a position the org is very thin at. Willing to come to Cincinnati for the right deal. Won't go completely south like Didi potentially could. Adding another righty bopper to the lineup would be sweet.

They could keep Winker/Aquino around for a killer platoon in RF and just leave Senzel alone in CF with Jankowski as defensive replacement (with maybe Senzel seeing some starts in RF as well). Or shop one of the young guys for bullpen help now, or just save them for a deadline deal to upgrade SS. Aquino for Giles anyone?
