Who cares about next year right now?
Well, it's time for Bauer to go earn the Cy Young. Biggest game in a long time.

Yes Twins only a half game back now for first so this weekend is going to be tough. Also another issue in the wild card race is the Giants. Giants have 4 against the Padres which would normally be good news. Problem is Padres are locked in to the 4th seed so they really have nothing to play for rest of the week. Tomorrow’s game is huge as suddenly the numbers don’t look great with the remaining matchups.
No help from the lousy Rox, Giants win and are back to .500 just like us.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
So it's the Reds, Giants, and Brewers for the last two spots and the other two teams have two more games to play.
Cubs are now #3 seed
Cardinals are now #5 seed
Reds are now #7 seed
Brewers are now #8 seed
Reds hold tiebreaker over Brewers for No. 7 seed by virtue of head-to-head record.
Reds, Brewers hold tiebreaker over Giants for Nos. 7-8 seeds by virtue of better intradivision records.

True, but the Pirates and Cards are the only two teams in the entire NL that have scored fewer runs than we have and the Cards are only 3 runs back despite having played 4 fewer games. If you expand it to all of MLB the Royals and Rangers are the only other teams with fewer runs scored.
So while a number of teams might be struggling to put up what you’d consider “normal” offensive numbers, no one struggles to get runs across quite like we do— other than the three horrendous teams mentioned above.
Yes that offense was bad, they feasted on bad pitching but whenever they played solid to good pitching they were completely shut down because like this team they were an all or nothing offense. You don't get no hit in the freaking playoffs and are considered a good offense, that is just not correct. This season's offense is an even worse version of that one.

Just get in. Home field advantage isn’t nearly as significant with no crowds.

One lesson from last night - if Reds face another lefty, less platooning.
I’m not convinced that quite so many RHH are necessary or that they all constitute an improvement.
I’m ok with Casali and Farmer at C and SS against the lefties. Indeed Reds may want to lead off with Farmer v lefties, he’s done well against them.
But Winker over T Steve at DH for sure.
And possibly Shogo over AA, close call v lefties, maybe depends on the specific pitcher. Shogo would be a fourth LHH, maybe not optimal, depends.
