Not gonna say I foresaw Senzel becoming the complete pumpkin he became, but I didn’t want him where we took him. He just had no superstar upside, and I’m not a fan of using high picks on guys who, best case, profile to above-average major leaguers. Senzel’s most popular comp was Jeff Cirillo. Cirillo was a good player, but if you’re taking a guy there who maybe, if stars align, becomes Cirillo, everyone is being set up for disappointment.
And I’m not ready to declare Manoah the winner over Lodolo, but I absolutely would swap them right here, right now if given the choice. Still, both guys can be stars. Hopefully they both will.
The Reds have done a really capable job of making some really bad picks with some bad luck. Without question, given the ridiculous amount of high first round picks they’ve had in the last 20-25 years, this franchise should have produced a lot more good, homegrown players. That’s got to improve. A small market team like Cincinnati, especially run by this ownership group, HAS to win the draft almost every time. Maybe Hendrick pans out. I know a lot of folks are down on him, but it’s very early. McCall is another one of those high floor, low-ceiling types. Hopefully he pans out. In all likelihood, we’ll have a top 3 pick this season, and let’s hope there’s a can’t-miss guy available when we pick.

At least Hunter Greene is looking good

Can't win many games when you only score 1 run.

You’d never see that in football or basketball. Baseball is just so freaking hard to project. So many recent busts - Mickey Moniak and Spencer Howard always come to mind.
The thing with Senzel, though, is he was supposed to be a safe pick. A plug and play immediately guy.

The Reds didn't have a pitcher go 6 innings in their first 31 games. In the next 8, Reds starters have gone at least 6 in 7 of those games, including today where Hunter Greene just finished the 6th. Baseball is weird

Also, as of today, Hunter Greene is no longer "a prospect" as today was his 45th day on the active roster. Same thing for Alexis Diaz.

Just happy we beat Cleveland. The rest of the games I couldn’t care less, actually I prefer we lose.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Connor Overton has a sore back so Graham Ashcraft will start Sunday for the Reds. It’ll be his big-league debut
