That may have helped. I don’t know. I’m willing to admit that early on, draconian measures may have worked. But that’s hardly a sure thing. But given the incomplete knowledge, it was defensible for a time. It really no longer is. Maybe we’d be okay in a socialist democracy, but in a hyper capitalist country with a horrible safety net, people need to work to eat. They need that even before the post office needs funding so votes get counted in November. People shouldn’t have food scarcity in this country. That’s an abomination. And unlike a disease, something which is entirely controllable.
