Someone rising like this is exactly what could put the Reds over the top. I’m rooting for it, but let’s see 200 at bats at AA.

Fun story about Castillo.
The first spring Castillo was at camp my father and I were wondering around the back fields at spring training. For those that arent familiar with this basically its like any little league park, there are 4 fields all next to each other. The players and coaches for both teams are just wondering around. I was standing next to Tucker Barnhart like we were both fans just watching a game on time. So you are around major and minor league players, coaches, training staff, even front office staff. The Reds were playing the Dodgers and I believe we went back there for the sole purpose of watching Senzel play.
I wonder over to the one field looking for Senzel (Reds were in the field). I didnt know who was on the mound, but I was standing behind home plate. Guy throws a nasty fastball that just jumps out of his hand, it was electric. I stopped looking for Senzel, now Im just watching this pitcher, everything he is throwing was nasty. I was standing next to a Dodgers coach. I asked who was on the mound. He said "Thats Luis Castillo, that kid is going to be special" I looked around and more and more people were gathering around that field to watch him pitch. Senzel btw was on the other field playing but everyone was much more interested in Castillo.
Sometimes when you watch a player you just know. If i had been posting on this board at that time i would have ran back to my hotel and posted about how amazed i was watching this kid pitch in a minor league spring training game. He was just different. To this day whenever we go to the back fields i have not seen 1 single player that stood out anywhere close to the way Castillo did that day. I doubt I ever will. Ive been going for 10 years still easily the most impressed I have ever been with a player.

Not trying to bust anyone's bubble .... but he's not exactly facing top quality pitching right now. But now is the time when you give young players a "taste" and see how they handle it, and keep your fingers crossed because we're gonna need a SS for the future.

If he starts in AA, I am hoping he is still there when Chattanooga plays in Jackson so I can get a chance to witness him. Am really liking his performances so far this spring.

Garcia just looks like he belongs. I'd definitely have him at Chattanooga, but if Galvis starts the season either on the DL or limited come Opening Day (other than starting his clock) I'd have no problem giving him a week or two of starts in The Show.
It's as moot point though. I have no reason to think Freddie will be limited by OD and starting the clock is a serious consideration, but I gotta say the kid looks a lot closer to ready than I ever would've imagined.

Well maybe Jose goes to AA and just burns it up. Then at the beginning of May Freddie goes on the IL with “hair strain”. Jose comes up (MLB service time clock shenanigans are satisfied) and Jose is ROY and everyone says “Francisco who?”
Well I can dream can’t I?
Reds fan since 1968 win or lose.

He does look like he belongs. He was taking infield drills and shagging for BP yesterday and a ball is hit to short center. He takes off and makes and amazing catch. Then hits a bomb in BP and jumps around like the a 16 yr old kid. Votto, Winker, Dietrich, etc. Were all laughing. It's nice to see a young man with all of that potential have that kind of enthusiasm for the game. You can tell he thinks he belongs.

During the radio broadcast yesterday, Jim Day commented that Barry Larkin was raving about this kid before this performance thus far.
