Darn. Gomes pops it up into shallow center. Bruce has to hold. It's up to Razor to drive in Jay.

Way NOT to go Gomes on that 175 foot pop up!

Oh no, not like that. It's just how Mike goes about with the art of pitching. He doesn't mess around out there with that nibbling crap and that's something Cueto needs to do better. He should just trust his stuff and go after the hitters and I think that's what he can pick up from watching Mike Leake. I'm sure our coaches are working with him too, LOL :

The rule is, IIRC from umpiring days, two bases from where the runner is at the time of the throw, not where he is when the ball goes out of play.

RAMON! Clutch with the run scoring double! Nice. He's hearing Ryan's footsteps and he's fighting for his starting spot. *grin* 3-0 Redlegs!

Nix was beyond second base when that throw was made (they showed it in slow mo on Baseball Tonight last night) so if the umpires had followed that rule, Nix should have been awarded home.

Bruce has 3 triples on the year. The HRs may not be up to expectations but he's still slugging just fine.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Really? I thought it was when the ball goes out of play. Well, me never being an ump...I'll take your more informed word on it. Thanks for the info.

    Not too shabby .297 AVG w/ a .791 OPS.

I'm with Dusty on this. Play the both of them and let each other rest. Both struggled last year when Votto went down and each had to play every day.

“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Cueto pops out in foul ground to end the inning. But we play a bit of add-on...3-0 good guys after 5 1/2.
