Agree, the QB needy team list seems to keep growing just as it looked to be smaller a year ago... Particularly for AFC teams it is looking bleak if you don't have a franchise QB stud in place... NFC teams can get ahead of the curve (Atlanta - with Wilson or Fields at #4); Dak looking good for a huge payday.

Ironic that none of those guys were consensus level picks when taken. All had a ton of doubters....except Brady and that was because he was mostly considered irrelevant where he was drafted.

Mahomes - 1st Round #10 - Air Raid QB's cannot succeed in the NFL.
Allen - 1st Round #7 - Too raw and did not play against good competition.
Rodgers - 1st Round #24 - Tedford QB's put up big college numbers but are not NFL QB's
Brady - 6th Round #199 - whatever....cool

The Steelers would have to give up so much to get him that they would struggle to put a competitive team around him. If Ben retired and they traded for Watson, they'd be at the cap and unable to re-sign multiple guys, plus they'd have to give up at least their next 3 first round picks to get him.

Exactly. Pittsburgh is looking at having to let most, if not all, of their free agents walk (or having to cut others that aren't free agents) just to get under the salary cap. I'm no cap expert, but I don't see any way they could fit his contract onto their roster on top of all the high draft picks they'd have to give up.

Pittsburgh picks 24th this year. Very easy for any team to top it even with salary concerns factoring in.
