I have been alternating between Korpiklaani and Captain Dan and the Scurvy Crew of late. it amazes me the level of historical accuracy in some of Captain Dan's songs.

"Uniaika (Dreamtime)" is part of the ancient Finnish creation myth (Australia's Aboriginal tribes have a very similar myth, as do several Native American tribes, and some Slavic traditions). It is the time before time in which the ancestral totemic spirits began to create the world. specifically, the song covers the spirit/deity Miunki(?) debating if it should include death and evil in the world of men. at 2:24 the narration changes from story telling to first person as Miunki is arguing with itself and concludes that without death there is no circle to life, and without evil, there is no joy in having life. I think the music is perfect for conveying the feeling a Dreamtime and Jonne Jarvella's voice being between a growl and yoiking is just perfect for catching the primeval.

Yeah, it seems a shame to get hung up on just one song when there is such a wide spectrum of musical subjects to be discovered, such as:

Moon Over Parma - Robert McGuire (featured on first season of "Drew Carey Show")
Killing Moon - Echo & the Bunnymen
Dancing in the Moonlight - King Harvest
    Pink Moon - Nick Drake
Kiko & the Lavender Moon - Los Lobos

    Bad Moon Rising -- CCR?!?

I heard Jamestown Revival live the other night. They don't suck. You can look them up on YouTube as well as I can.

Probably my favorite song from 2013. The official video is kind of disappointing, though.
Arise and walk, come through. A world beyond that door is calling out for you. Arise and walk, come through. It's calling out for you.

My hype for the new Cloud Nothings record is as palpable as any in recent memory:

The other track they've released, 'Psychic Trauma', is fantastic too. The drummer kills his kit in that one...
