Did Lopez do something wrong? I’d rather see him in there than Freeman any day.

You mean the 29 OPS+ from a soon to be 34 year old doesn't do it for you? He'll probably get 3 hits now that I said that.

Glad Aquino and Stephenson are in there. The team really needs some RH pop.

I've been impressed this week-end. The Reds bounced back and are taking care of business. I hope some BP help comes soon because they only have two guys I don't despise out there and those guys are more like depth options not mainstays. The rest of the team deserves the added help.

Reds probably feel more comfortable defensively at third with Freeman, who’s a more experienced player.

Neither Lopez nor Freeman is primarily a third baseman, but Freeman plays shortstop and probably has better defensive chops.

Schrock played quite a bit of third in the minors and he’s sitting too.

I'd have rather had Schrock in there over Freeman.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

So many moves, I forgot about Schrock. He should be playing against the RHP.

I'm hopeful about Senzel. As bad as the pen is, I'm not convinced that Sims will be an upgrade.

Interesting. Have you seen some of the arms coming out of the pen? Not sure how a healthy Sims isn’t an upgrade. It’s a tiny bar to clear.

Schrock can hit. Wih Cast out they need a bat like his in there over Freeman. But I am also fine with with infield defense for Sonny. If good Sonny shows up in this upcoming stretch it would be awesome.

50-50 chance he stays healthy, though

Other than a 25 inning stretch last year, which is a really small sample, he's basically been Jeff Hoffman. A starter who couldn't hack it and a multi time failure in the bullpen as a big leaguer. His ERA this year is over 5. I'd rather have him than Garcia or Hendrix, so from that standpoint he's an improvement, but I'm not expecting him to be a go to guy in close games. From all I have seen, his 2021 is similar to his non-2020 career and now he has an injury history in his shoulder. 2020 was an outlier until proven otherwise IMO.

We’re talking about a bullpen with Edgar Garcia, Josh Osich, Ryan Hendrix and others. He’s better than what they have. And as far as the eye test goes, Sims’ stuff is a notch above Jeff Hoffman. But to each their own.

Of course, but the assumption was he’s healthy.

I hope you are right and 2020 Sims shows up, but I'll believe it when I see it. Also, my expectations are low for any guys coming back from shoulder issues, even if he'd been Mariano Rivera before.
